Mindee Hernandez Appointed as Place 2 Trustee

The Jarrell Independent School District Board of Trustees has appointed Mindee Hernandez as Place 2 Trustee. She replaces Crystal Phalen, who resigned in November 2024.

Mrs. Hernandez was sworn in at the April 2, 2025, Board of Trustees Special Meeting. She was sworn into office with her husband and children by her side. "I am thrilled to join the school board because I believe every student deserves access to a quality education that empowers them to succeed. This is an opportunity to collaborate with educators, parents, and the community to create positive change, advocate for students, and ensure our schools provide the best possible learning environment. Together, we can shape a brighter future for our children," she said.

Place 2 represents a large area west of I-35, including Jarrell High School, Jarrell Middle School, and Double Creek Elementary. A small Hernandez Family Photo part of Place 2 also covers the east side of I-35. Mrs. Hernandez and her husband, Jon, have three children, all of whom attend school in Jarrell ISD.

"Mindee Hernandez is an active member of our community. She strongly supports public education and will serve our students, staff, and community with the utmost integrity and thoughtfulness," said Board President Jenny Arnold." She has lived in this community for nearly two decades. Her family is a product of our school system. Her husband graduated from Jarrell High School, and she has three children enrolled in Jarrell ISD. The Board of Trustees strongly believes in her ethics and passion for education. We know she will be a terrific representative for Place 2."

Mindee Hernandez will serve as the Place 2 Trustee until the November 2025 election, when she'll have to run for the position formally.
