    Eligibility Requirements and Expectations
    Athlete Eligibility Includes:

    • Athletes must be at least 8 years old and enrolled as a student in the Jarrell Independent School District.  
    • Athletes must be identified as Intellectually Disabled (ID) and/or have a closely related developmental disability, such as those who have functional limitations in both general learning and adaptive skills.
    • Possess a level of self-help skills that allows the athlete to perform the necessary skills in competition with little or no assistance from volunteers.
    • Must be medically stable enough to endure various external conditions such as noise, large groups, hot or cold temperatures, long periods of “wait time”.
    • Must display behaviors appropriate for extracurricular activities, can follow directions, and is not physically aggressive toward other athletes or volunteers. Safety of all athletes is our top priority.   
    • All athletes must have a physical completed by their doctor before participating. Medical documents must be updated every 3 years.  
    • You must be willing to abide by the athlete's code of conduct.

    Family Expectations Include:

    • You must complete medical forms for the athlete to participate. Parents must fill out the registration form, the athlete release form, and the athlete health history.  
    • Parents must take athlete health history and athlete physical form to the medical exam to be filled out by the physician. 
    • Must be responsible for transporting the athlete to and from practice and competitions and stay at all events for their duration. 
      Practices will take place once per week. Competition may occur on a weekend.
    • Must be willing to abide by the family code of conduct.
