Return-to-School Plan

District administrators have been working all summer, staying up-to-date with guidance from TEA, to develop a back-to-school plan for the 2020-21 school year. This plan will ensure all students get an excellent education and addresses important safety measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

On Wednesday, July 22, a draft "Return to School" plan was presented to the JISD Back-to-School Task Force and Board of Trustees.

Highlights of this plan include:

  • The official start date for JISD students and staff will be Wednesday, August 19.
  • The first three weeks of school will be a transition period, and all students will receive remote instruction during this time.
  • All staff will report to assigned campuses during the three week transition period.
  • On-campus instruction will begin on Wednesday, September 9. Parents will have the choice of either on-campus instruction or remote learning for their child.
