Jarrell ISD Swears-In a Newly Elected Trustee and Re-Elected Board of Trustees

 On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, Jarrell ISD held a swearing-in ceremony for the re-elected incumbents and the newest Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees member. 

Ginger Martinez - Trustee, Place 7

Ginger Martinez is new to the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees. She was elected to represent Place 7 in November 2022. Ginger Martinez has lived in Jarrell for 19 years. She's been married to her husband, Ryan, for 16 years and has two sons, Ryan Jr. and Dominic. Martinez has a rich history with Jarrell ISD. For seven years, she worked in the district's transportation department. Her oldest son, Ryan Jr. attends North Pole High School. Her youngest son Dominic is currently a sophomore at JHS. "My time as an employee, parent, and volunteer at Jarrell ISD will help bring a unique perspective to the school board," she said. Today Martinez works as the Maintenance Coordinator for Sphere Realty and Property Management. Her husband is a  government contractor working in North Pole, Alaska. Their oldest son, Ryan, Jr. lives there too. "They may live far now, but their support and guidance, along with my son Dom, gave me the strength to run for office, and it will give me the strength to be a part of the Board of Trustees in a meaningful and constructive way," she said.

Tamara Dozier - Place 5 (Incumbent)

Tamara Dozier was first elected to the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees in November 2019. She was re-elected in November 2022. 

Dozier has been married for 30 years and has four children who attended Jarrell schools. During her time on the board, Dozier has championed hiring more support staff for teachers, raises for district employees, innovative teaching techniques, and the 2021 Bond package. She is thrilled to continue being a voice for families in Jarrell. "I value the trust the community has given me. They trust me to make the best decisions for their children. It's an important job, and I promise to advocate for the best," she said. 

Dave Lovelace - Place 4 (Incumbent)

Dave Lovelace was appointed to represent Place 4 by the Board of Trustees in March 2022. Mr. Lovelace ran unopposed in the November 2022 election cycle. In the brief time, Dave Lovelace has been on the board, he has been a vocal advocate for retention and recruitment strategies. He and his wife Georgia, a retired educator, are volunteers at Jarrell High School. Together, they work with Jarrell High School students' Kiwanis Key Club helping students develop leadership skills and career development. "What students learn in the classroom is as important as they do in extracurricular activities or athletics. I take pride in mentoring our students. I can teach them life skills and support them when they need it," he said. 

At the ceremony Crystal Phalen, President of the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees said "Our board continues to have strong voices and dynamic leaders. We will work together to support our students and staff in every way. The district has a bright future.”
