Teacher FAQ's

1. Who can apply for a Foundation grant?

Instructional Staff employed with Jarrell ISD may apply for a grant. In order to be considered for funding, projects must further the academic experience of students in accordance with the district’s mission and goals.

2. How can I get an application form?

Applications are only available online starting in mid-February.

3. What types of projects typically receive Foundation grants?

Funding is granted to staff to implement imaginative and progressive teaching initiatives that promote student achievement.

4. How much money is available for each project?

The Foundation Fund Enrichment Grants are based on merit and funds available for projects that benefit the classroom.

5. Are there formal guidelines? Yes. The application cycle starts mid-February and grants are awarded in April.  Applicants must follow the instructions on the application and must deliver the completed application by the posted deadline in order to be considered.

6. Do I need to include a detailed budget with my application?

Yes, the application form identifies what to include and how.

7. Can I submit more than one application?

Yes, submit as many applications as you like. Applications are reviewed by a committee of community volunteers and district administrators using a very structured “blind process”. Applicants who submit multiple projects that merit funding can and often do receive more than one funded grant.

8. When is the deadline for submission?

The last day that grants will be accepted is posted at the top of the application. This year, the deadline is 4:30 pm, Friday, February 26th. Late applications will not be accepted. For this reason, we encourage applicants to apply early to ensure adequate time to prepare the application.

9. Where do I send my completed application?
Please deliver a signed hard copy of your application to Vanessa Ashcraft at the administration building.

10. How does the evaluation process work?

Applications received by the submission deadline are numbered and prepared for review. The cover sheet of each application will be removed, and the Review Committee will not have access to the cover sheets during the review, making this a truly blind process. Evaluators will consist of foundation board members and donors and district administrative staff. The committee will review and score each application based on the existing rubric. Once all applications have been reviewed and rated independently, the list of projects that merit funding will be brought to the foundation board for final approval. Applicants will be notified in April.

11. How can I find out the status of my application?

You will be notified when final decisions have been made. All applicants will receive a reply even if funding is not granted.

12. If my project is selected for funding, am I required to do anything after I complete my project?

Grant winners are required to complete and submit a brief project evaluation after you have finished your project. An evaluation that clearly demonstrates academic achievement is critical because:

  • The story of your success is our mission in action
  • Concrete facts equip the foundation board with meaningful stories to share with current and future donors
  • It demonstrates good stewardship for donated funds
  • Builds creditability in the community- for public education and for the education foundations that support teachers and students
